Seriously! We are stuck at home. Not because we want to, but because we have to. At first, this sounded great. Staying home and not having to go to work. Yes! It’s was our dream. But now, we feel stuck. We want to go out and socialize, but we can’t!
Don’t let being stuck at home turn into a rut. Make the best of the situation. Here are the 20 things I’m at doing while being stuck at home to let time pass.
1. Plan Your Next Vacation
Just cause because your stuck at home doesn’t me you can’t plan your next vacation.
Now. Is. The. Perfect. Time.
Spend time doing all your research now. Start looking at flights. This time is probably the best time to book everything. Don’t feel discouraged that you can’t travel. Instead, make it the perfect time to plan your next adventure.
2. Read Books
Give yourself the time you’ve never had to read books. Maybe it’s a fiction, non-fiction or self-help. I usually have an arsenal of books in my room.
Some of the books I am currently obsessed with are the Outlander Series (Yes, I am one of those crazy people obsessed with Jamie Fraser.), The Untethered Soul, this book, this book right here is one of my absolute favorites. It’s a must-read for everyone.
3. Go on a Google Arts & Culture Tour
This is probably one of the coolest things we have access to from anywhere as long as we have internet. You can look at museums, street art, historical sites and so much more. I just took a tour of Machu Pichu! This is also a great way to go on a virtual vacation. Check out Google Arts & Culture
4. Have a Picnic
It doesn’t have to over the top. Keep it simple. PB&J sandwiches. The point is to have a picnic. To feel like it’s an activity that you are planning. Grab a bottle of wine or your favorite beverage and head to your backyard balcony or patio.
5. Get Back to Your Hobby
Is there a hobby you love doing but don’t have the time? Well…now you do. Learn how to garden, play the guitar, dance, cook, sew, knit or paint. I want to learn to sew, so I am going to make it a point to sew at once a week.
6. Organize Your Photos
We take so many photos! I know my iPhone has over 20k photos! Yikes. So now, I have been organizing my photos. I go to an event, trip or birthday in my photos, I edit my them and then I create a folder. I have also been transferring them to my computer to save them there. My next goal is to start printing them and putting them in albums.
7. Give Yourself a Mani & Pedi
Don’t let being stuck at home hold you back from taking care of yourself. Instead, give yourself a mani and pedi. Let this downtime be your time.
8. Learn a New Recipe
This has been my jam. I have been enjoying cooking up some new recipes. I go onto Pinterest for some inspiration. My latest recipes have been; a 3 ingredient bread, Mongolian ground beef pasta, carrot cake, and carrot muffins. My next quests are going to be a creamy garlic Tuscon salmon, chicken dumplings and some instant pot recipes.
9. Learn a New Language
Fortunately for me, I was raised speaking Spanish and I learned English in school. The best thing about speaking two languages is that you get to talk to twice as many people, you enjoy twice as much music and my favorite….you enjoy twice as many jokes. There are so many languate programs. Find a program that works for you.
10. Have a Spa Day
I am all over this one. Since I’m not wearing any makeup these days, my skin has been able to breathe. It has also given me more time to put on a mask at night or do a little dermaplaning from home. I encourage you to do the same!
11. Facetime a Friend
Everyone is doing this and I love it! I’ve never been a crazy Facetimer. Not sure why. Just haven’t. However, since I can’t go out and see my friends, this has been my way to stay connected. So do it.
12. Sing Karaoke
When I’m on my computer I like to listen to music, however, it’s a struggle. Of course, I listen to music that I love and then I lose my concentration cause I’m too busy singing. So, I started listening to acoustic versions of my favorite songs and I love it! Yes! So…that took me on another tangent. I started to look up my favorite songs to karaoke and lyrics, and I had a karaoke party. By party I mean, me staring at my computer and singing the songs at the top of my lungs. Needless to say, this made me very happy. You should try it!
13. Netflix. Netflix. Netflix.
Everyone is always recommending different movies to watch and I always put them on “my list.” Well, slowly I have been going through that list. So, enjoy this time and watch some movies.
14. Spend Quality Time with Family
This has been something we have, on one level or another…taken for granted. If you are living with loved ones, spend quality time with them. If you don’t live with family, Facetime or call them. There are so many ways to spend quality time with someone, even if it’s not in person.
15. Create Your Vision Board
Haven’t made your vision board? No worries. I haven’t finished mine. There’s time. Especially now. I’ve been looking through a magazine, cutting and pasting onto my board. Do the same. Work on that vision board this month!
16. Start a Side Business
It sounds like a crazy idea. I know. However, if there is ever a time to start a business that can you work from home, it’s now.
17. Bike the Neighborhood
Grab a bike or go for a walk around the neighborhood. Enjoy the sun and the freedom to walk around.
18. Game Night
Have game night with your friends or family. There are so many online games that you can play over the internet. If not, get creative and play a game over Facetime. How about Mexican Loteria? Cause who doesn’t have it at home? Just make sure you pick a different card than your opponent.
19. Learn Something New
Say what? Yes! If there is something you want to learn…do it. You can either pay for a course or find a lot of relevant videos for free on YouTube.
20. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.
This is definitely a part I am enjoying. I sleep in, no alarm. Take advantage of it now while you can.
Ok, corazones. Hopefully, this gives you some ideas of what you can do. I’ve been doing all of these things and it’s allowed me to enjoy my time at home, instead of feeling trapped.
