It is 2021 and if you are like me, you are ready to travel. You want to travel. You’ve been waiting to travel. Now, the real question is, will we travel? If we do travel, where will we go? I live in the United States, so Mexico is a very easy trip to take, a trip that I take several times a year. As of right now, Mexico is open for travel and you do not need to provide a negative test to enter the country. So yes, Mexico is open for travel!
I want to share everything I know about traveling to Mexico during the pandemic. I traveled to Mexico last fall and things are very controlled. I felt very safe. Businesses take the pandemic very seriously, so you can walk around comfortable. You can fully enjoy Mexico because the businesses do everything in their power to help you enjoy your vacation.
Travel Tips to Mexico During Pandemic
Book Excursions Early
While I was in Mexico I went on several different excursions and the biggest takeaway that I can give you….book early. Due to COVID, all excursions have limited capacities therefore they will fill up very quickly. Do yourself a favor and book early. That way you are able to enjoy the trip.
Be Flexible With Travel Plans
Everything is going to be different when you travel. You will have to wear a mask, keep your distance and there will be less people vacationing. None of these are very bad, however, you need to be flexible with your travel plans while you are on vacation. Businesses might be closed or excursions might not be available. This will definitely happen, so be flexible.
BIG TIP: If businesses are open, be sure to check business hours because many businesses have limited hours.
All Inclusives Are Very Safe
If you want to stay as safe and as healthy as possible, stay at an all inclusive resort. Resorts in Mexico have implemented several procedures to keep people safe and they are always keeping your health in mind. You can enjoy all the luxuries without having any limitations.
Stay Healthy – You Need to Test Negative to Return to United States
Yes, Mexico can be a lot of fun and it can be a party town. However, be careful. The tourist destinations are very careful and have safety measures in place but that doesn’t mean you won’t want to break the rules. Don’t. Stay healthy and don’t get COVID. Currently, if you travel internationally, you will need to get a negative test to come back to the United States.
The Rules: Wear A Mask, Sanitize and Get Temperature Checked
It doesn’t matter where you are, if you are in a touristy location in Mexico, the rules will be strict. Let me paint a picture: In order for you to go into a business, you must wear a mask. You walk into a business, the first thing you have to do is sanitize your shoes by wiping your feet on a towel on the floor. Then you will get your temperature checked and finally they will give you hand sanitizer. Once all of these steps are done, then you can enter a business.
I didn’t mind it, I actually appreciated it. It helps prevent people from getting sick while still being able to enjoy a vacation.
Pay Fairly
Yes you can get great deals in Mexico, but pay a fair price. Right not is not the best time to haggle small business owners or local vendors. When you sit down and talk to them you will find out that they have been hugely financially affected by the pandemic. They rely on our tourism to provide for their family. Pay a fair price.
Conclusion:
Mexico is a safe and enjoyable place to visit. Since tourism is a big part of their economy, the large travel destinations take COVID very seriously and try to create a safe environment.
