Punta Caliza
Punta Caliza is, hands down, the best hotel I have stayed at in all my years of traveling. Let me tell you why. First of all, it is absolutely beautiful. The design and feel of the hotel are genuinely one of its kind. It is sheer perfection. While walking to the front desk, you will get a glimpse of the chic pool surrounded by a building in a triangle shape. The building is all the hotel rooms having direct access to the pool. If you are like me, you will get butterflies with this view. You can’t help feel the excitement of waiting to get into the room, only to discover that your hotel room window opens up directly to the pool.
I had only seen pictures of the hotel before I booked. To see Punta Caliza Hotel in person was surreal. The hotel is the kind of hotel you only see in photos and magazines. It is a boutique hotel that is intimate and has a romantic vibe. Punta Caliza is very inviting and not pretentious.
Now let’s get into more details of the family-owned hotel.

Breakfast Is Included
Breakfast comes with your stay and is on point. Every meal I had was delicious and different than what I was accustomed to in meals that come with hotel stays.
The breakfast menu changes daily, which I loved. Coffee and freshly squeezed juice come with every meal.
The rooms are excellent. The size is spacious enough to make your stay comfortable. The lighting is dim, which adds to the ambiance. Each room has a set of very cozy bathrobes that amplifies the vibes. The bathroom and shower room are separate, which I love. This is one of my favorite features in hotel rooms.
punta caliza Pool
As I’ve mentioned, every hotel room’s window opens up directly to the pool. This feature is fun and truly unique. You can wake up, put on your swimsuit, and open your window to jump straight into the pool. It’s the coolest thing ever! My first morning at the hotel, I woke up, put my swimsuit on, and jumped into the pool. Since the hotel is small, the feeling of the pool is very intimate. You don’t see many people.
One part many people don’t mention is the small private pool in each hotel room. It’s big enough for two people. It’s very cool because it’s in the privacy of your room steps away from the window that connects to the large pool.

Punta caliza Bar With Views
The outdoor bar which is also where you will have breakfast is behind the check-in counter. It has roughly ten tables that are out for you to enjoy music and a pool view. There are also a few lounge chairs out for you to layout and have some drinks.
I had a few mezcal cocktails, and they were delicious. I highly recommend ordering drinks with Mezcal, it is their specialty. The bar also carries local beer, I didn’t try it, and I regret it. I ended up having one local beer on my last day at the mart located in the port, and it was one of the best I’ve had. It was a porter that had a slight coconut flavor.
Punta caliza beach
Punta Caliza is not directly on the beach, but it’s less than a 5 minute walk. Punta Caliza has a space reserved on the beach with lounge chairs for hotel guests. If ordered in advance, they will deliver drinks to you on the beach.
Punta Caliza Tips
- El Mirador – This is an excellent area to get a complete view of Holbox. You climb up a set of stairs behind the check-in counter. At the top of the building, you will get a panorama view of Holbox. A must while at the hotel.
- Book early. There are a limited number of rooms, so be sure to book early. The sooner you book, the better price you will get.
- Enjoy breakfast every morning. It changes daily, and it’s freshly made.
- Be sure to spend time at the pool. The pool is the reason you book this hotel. Enjoy the luxury that Punta Caliza has to offer. It is such a unique feature, don’t miss out.
I highly recommend this hotel. It is worth every penny that you spend on it. The experience that you are going to have is worth the money you will pay. I have traveled a lot, and I can tell you first hand that I have never seen a design like this. The hotel has won several awards for its architecture.
If you plan on visiting the beautiful island of Holbox, then this is a must book hotel while you are there. Make your trip one to remember. Stay at Punta Caliza.
One of my favorite parts of my hotel experience was the staff. They were kind, helpful, and warm. They gave me great recommendations and delicious drinks.
